Sometimes a screen capture results in a blank screen in Paint or a blank file when you save. Other times cutting and pasting within Paint results in a different region (specifically the left hand top corner) being pasted. This is all due to the performance settings in Windows Media being incompatible with the Print program.

The solution is to reduce the video acceleration to zero and kill overlays.

First start windows media player with the Windows Media Player Screen Cap settings - NCIS Reference Library button to get the main screen

Look under Tools -> Options

for the performance tab. Then slide the video acceleration down to zero, apply then go to the advanced settings.

In the advanced settings, turn off overlays and hit OK.

Now exit Windows Media Player and restart with the video you want to play. You shold now be able to cap successfully.
