How to post hyperlinks

This is for placing hyperlinks on proboards like NFA or SpecialOps.

There are two ways of look at this

Posting a link with words type A

A normal link has the format [url]link_address[\url]
A hyperlink has the form [url=link_address]link_name[\url]

To do a hyperlink, first highlight the web address of the site you wish to link to:

Then use the 'insert hyperlink' button (second from the left on the bottom row of butons) or just type the two url brackets. Here are the steps (note there is an extra space between the [ and url.

[url][/url]
[url=http://ncistvdotcom.proboards77.com/index.cgi][/url]
[url=http://ncistvdotcom.proboards77.com/index.cgi]NFA home page[/url]

to get this: NFA home page

Posting a link with words type B

Another way is to type your link name first and then connect to the link:

NFA home page

then select the name

[image]

and hit the hyperlink button [image]

to get [url]NFA home page[/url]

then go copy your link address:

[image]

and stick your cursor in the first bracket and place an "=" sign there

[url=]NFA home page[/url]

then do a of the link address paste after the "="

[url=http://ncistvdotcom.proboards77.com/index.cgi]NFA home page[/url]

to get

NFA home page

Posting a link with a picture

Link with a picture.

Again I have left a space in the [ img] and [ url] brackets so you can see what I type.

A logical extension is to use a picture as your link.

For example, the NFA logo is

the image address is

http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o119/OzGeek/tesebcallebanner-1.jpg

the actual image is written
[img]http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o119/OzGeek/tesebcallebanner-1.jpg[/img]

So you can put this in the hyperlink

[url][img]http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o119/OzGeek/tesebcallebanner-1.jpg[/img][/url]

then put the actual address in

[url=][img]http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o119/OzGeek/tesebcallebanner-1.jpg[/img][/url]

Copy your link
[image]

and paste

[url=http://ncistvdotcom.proboards77.com/index.cgi][img]http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o119/OzGeek/tesebcallebanner-1.jpg[/img][/url]

to get a picture that sends to to a link if you click on it.

This is effectively a clickable image - you can send someone to a large version of a small image, or anywhere you like.
