Thanks AngelZ for doing all the hard work.

You know it's not mine - no McGees.

HOW TO POST IMAGES

For new recruits who aren't familiar with the whole 'pic posting' thing, here are some basic step by step instructions that you can follow.

> To post a picture it needs to be hosted on a website somewhere, not just stored on your hardisk.

> Right-click on picture, select "Properties"

> Highlight the address, for example:
http://ncisfans.com/02_Photo%20Surveillance/Promos/thumb_cast01editsuffix.jpg

> Copy the address - Hit "copy" or control-C

> Go back to your post and select the "Insert Image" button [image]

> Paste your picture address (control-V) in between the two sets of brackets. Be careful not to delete any of the brackets or the image won't appear.

> The code will look something like this:

Code:
[img]http://www.ncisfans.com/Promos/cast03.jpg[/img]

> You can select the preview button to see if your handiwork was successful

My notes on the red cross of death

If the name of your picture file is too long, the image will not post. This will also happen if the image no longer exists but I'm assuming you've checked that by now. If not, go do it.

Anyway: filename to long - This is because there is a character limit on the
[ img]picture_name[\img] function
and for that matter the
[ url]link_name[\url] function

So if the direct link to your image is trunctated like this:
http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee178/Absforever/NCIS%20Screencaps/Season%205/Identity%20crisis/NCISS05E04DD1594.j pg

Prepare yourself for the red cross of death when you try to include it as an image:

Shorten your image name and voila, beautiful guys appear (picture from dj_caps):

Posting images side by side rather than the default stacked:

This came about because of question from Channel D. I'll also give it's own thread but this bit is about clickys

Okay, I have a question:

If I am posting more than one picture in a message (via my photobucket account), the board wants to stack the pics vertically. It seems the only manipulation I can do is to justify them (i.e., move them left, center, or right).

How can I make reasonably small pics line up horizontally?

Oh I know this problem.
You need to remove any space or carriage return between the [ img] or [url] delimiters. This is not always obvious because the images names are so long that they start on new lines.

When you copy straight from photobucket you get:

[URL=http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o119/OzGeek/LaF_scout2.jpg][IMG]http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o119/OzGeek/th_LaF_scout2.jpg[/IMG][/URL]
[URL=http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o119/OzGeek/DT2.jpg][IMG]http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o119/OzGeek/th_DT2.jpg[/IMG][/URL]

and you can't see the carriage return so you get

[image]
[image]

You have to go to front of that second [URL] and insert a backspace

[URL=http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o119/OzGeek/LaF_scout2.jpg][IMG]http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o119/OzGeek/th_LaF_scout2.jpg[/IMG][/URL]
<backspace>[URL=http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o119/OzGeek/DT2.jpg][IMG]http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o119/OzGeek/th_DT2.jpg[/IMG][/URL]

You may not see a difference in the image string where the name is too long, the important thing is, the carriage return is gone, even if you can't see it's gone

[URL=http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o119/OzGeek/LaF_scout2.jpg][IMG]http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o119/OzGeek/th_LaF_scout2.jpg[/IMG][/URL][URL=http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o119/OzGeek/DT2.jpg][IMG]http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o119/OzGeek/th_DT2.jpg[/IMG][/URL]
